Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has voiced optimism for implementing the Ohrid Agreement, reached with Serbia on March 18th, with European Union mediation.
Within the framework of the Delphy Forum in Greece on Friday, Kurti has said that rapid implementation of the Agreement is needed, which he has considered a challenge.
“The EU has indicated it can normalise relations. It's inspired by the model of two Germanys. Basically, two states that decide to live with each other, with their sovereignty, and equal rights. I'm optimistic about this deal. We need quick implementation. Implementation is now a challenge, but not something for which we should fear as UNMIK's Kosovo head” said, the prime minister of Kosovo.
Our relations [with Serbia] are not normal, we need normalisation. Kosovo is a normal, democratic country, not a big state, but a good example of how economic development and democracy go hand in hand. And we are a sign of the success of NATO intervention. We have to normalize relationships, because we can't change history and geography. We can change the future, we can work for the good future. The Ohrid Agreement is the major success of Kosovo, Serbia and the EU”, Kurti has added.
He has cited sanctions imposed on Russia for aggression in Ukraine, sheltering Afghan journalists, saying these show that Kosovo is listed in Western values.
