KFOR reacts to Ibër Bridge issue: Reopens through political dialogue

KFOR's mission has suggested that reopening the Ibër Bridge for car flow is a problem that needs to be resolved through political dialogue. This KFOR stance comes after in the Northern Mitrovica Municipal Assembly an Asamblist of Vetevendosje Movement has taken initiative to make a request to authorities [...]
“The bridge's recovery is an issue that needs to be resolved through political dialogue. Mission NATO, KFOR, continues to monitor local developments and remains fully focused on the daily implementation of its mandate, based on the 1999 Security Council Resolution 1244, to ensure a safe environment and free movement for all communities in Kosovo”, KFOR has said in Rtv Dukagjin.
Northern Mitrovica Municipal Assembly head Nexhat Ugljanin in a T7 Frontal Speaker had declared that their work has ended with the process of voting the demand and that the opening issue of the Ibër Bridge for the flow of vehicles lies with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Local Power and International Peacekeeping Missions, EULEX KFOR.
However, officials and MPs from the ruling party vote, which took place in the Northern Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, have interpreted it as opening the vehicle flow bridge and have restored the expression “Pun of the entire Albin Kurti”.
But despite wishes, only Kosovo Police cars can circulate over the Ibër Bridge, KFOR and EULEX, until another solution is made.
Until “Serbian List” has warned unrest if something like that happens. Petar Petkovic has named it “approval” of Prime Minister Albin Kurti on the eve of the May 2nd meeting in Brussels.
