In a press statement after their opening session, lawyer Gregory Kehoe said that many important international figures would be invited to testify in the Special Chambers.
Lawyer Kehoe said the evidence brought before the court today (coff) clearly testifies that the Kosovo Liberation Army has not had an effective command structure.
The expectations are that our client is acquitted. Of course, you've seen the evidence we've presented. There is one case that was presented by the SPS to command and control, command and effective control. And I thought the evidence we brought today clearly indicates that there was no command structure and control, and of course not an effective command control structure. The KLA acted at the base level and operated on the control of operational zones, and the commanders of the operational zones and it was not a vertical chain. I think we've done enough.
Clearly today”, Kehoe declared.
Kehoe declared that many of the important international figures would be invited as witnesses, even though he added that because of their age, they had demanded that they receive their testimony before the trial process.
During today's process (c. Tuesday), the name of current American President Joe Biden was also mentioned when he met Thaci in the summer of 1999. But Kehoe claimed it would be difficult to bring to Holland the number one of the United States of America.
During the opening speech, Thaci's defence also exploited the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia's acts in the case of Fatmir Limaj and Ramush Haradinaj.
Lawyer Kehoe said those decisions of these two cases are very important. Lawyer Kehoe said they would also consider parole for their client seriously
