Former Kosovo Prime Minister Kadri Veselini has again been acquitted at the session that has opened today the start of the trial against the four KLA leaders in The Hague.
Asked if he confirmed his first statement as innocent, Wessel said “Yes, completely innocent”. Wessel has also expressed his disappointment over the delay in starting the judicial process for two and a half years. Two and a half years after the detention of four KLA leaders -- Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi -- in The Hague today has launched the trial process against them. They are accused of war crimes, naming them a “Joint Criminal Enterprise”.
That term, widely considered, includes the entire Kosovo Liberation Army, which in 1998-1999 fought for freedom from Serbia.
The indictment's 35th point portrays them as members of the Joint Criminal Company almost all KLA political and military leaders from the General Staff, commanders and deputy commanders of the Zones, Brigades, Units, to the simplest soldiers and others acting on behalf of the KLA.
For two and a half years of her work, the Special Court has been criticised for delaying the start of the trial, for procrastination, for trying to avoid the legal basis of its functioning, for hiding excusive evidence, for multiple editings, and for co-operation with the Serbian state ʹ from which it has admitted thousands of files.
