Not only my country, but many other countries believe now is not the right time to hold them, since we are currently at a critical moment, a significant moment for dialogue to develop. We believe all problems should be solved through dialogue”, Hill said in an interview for Serbia's Blic.
We remember that, days ago, the Serbian List, which has led with the four northern municipalities, has shown it will not participate in the elections, according to them, until the formation of the Serb majority municipalities' association. In the April 23rd elections, 11 candidates will compete for mayors of four municipalities in the north, where only two of them are from the Serb community.
The extraordinary local elections will be held in the north following the resignation of the mayors of northern Mitrovica municipalities, Leposaviqi, Zvecan and Zubin Potok. The mayors of these municipalities have resigned in November 2022 due to the government's decision on illegal Serbian license plates.
The elections in the north were originally scheduled for December 18th of 2022, but they were postponed after incidents by Serbian criminal groups against KKZ officials and the inability to organise them.
