At first, the witness vowed to tell the truth before the court announced that the testimony would last at least five days.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office has asked him for seven hours to interview the witness, protect the victims for 15 minutes, and protect the accused for 12 hours.
While in advance, the Court announced that a verbal ruling on a case involving accused Thaci would be issued during the day.
Once the testimony was launched, the process went into closed session.
Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are seen in the hall where the court process is taking place against them.
After more than two years in custody, the trial against former KLA leaders began 3 April with the parties' opening statements.
They have been declared innocent of all points of the indictment.
Former KLA leaders are being tried for alleged war crimes and are being held at The Hague detention centre from November 2020.
