Thaci's defence is continuing the opening statement, trying to refute the prosecution's claims.
Thaci's lawyer, Gregory Kehoe, again insisted that Thaci had no real power during the war, as the prosecution claims he led a “joint criminal enterprise”.
“Hashim Thaci did not control the KLA, controlled the commanders of the box”, he said.
According to the lawyer, Thaci's had to participate in crimes because “ai knew that the success of the liberation movement depended on Western states, especially the United States of America”.
“Thaci knew that Kosovo could achieve independence without US assistance. He had the motivation not to engage in joint criminal enterprise”, he added.
Defense: Thaci has had no motive to commit crimes he is accused of.
