It says they have strengthened capacities in this institution, even though the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) has not completed the recruiting procedures.
According to her, four additional prosecutors, six professional collaborators and two support staff have been added to assist prosecutors.
While there is still no indictment filed for trial in absentia, Minister Haxhiu says this law has begun to implement.
“According to the information I have, it's recently begun to apply the same. But for more information I cannot speak”, she says.
This way of judgment occurs for the first time in Kosovo and can only be prosecuted after five invitations are sent to the current state and announced in search of criminal proceedings for at least six months in the official newspaper.
The first of justice states that addressing war crimes remains a priority for what some actions have taken.
“We have strengthened capabilities in Special Prosecutor. Unfortunately, the Prosecutorial Council has not yet completed the recruiting procedures, but we have added four additional prosecutors, six professional associates and two support staff to help prosecutors address these crimes. In each meeting I have had with the leaders of the justice system, I have highlighted the importance of addressing serious war crimes. Because, as you are aware, there has been inaction, neglect, somewhere even intentional of missions that have been installed in Kosovo”, Haxhiu says of Kosovas.
To investigate these cases, Haxhiu says iron will and vigilance are needed.
“requires an iron will, a greater will to address these crimes seriously. Now, as far as an indictment is concerned, this is the responsibility of the Special Prosecutor, if he were in my responsibility, I would certainly have an answer to that. I as justice minister call for the Special Prosecutor to address these cases with the highest seriousness. For us, especially during these months it is painful that wherever we go, we have massacres among the worst”, Haxhiu says of Kosova Preress.
Moreover, she says the goals are also for empowering the department addressing war crimes within the police.
We remember that Kosovo institutions from UNMIK and EULEX have inherited about 900 crimes and another two thousand for the missing. /
