But now, Mr. Trump himself faces criminal charges of paying $130,000 to buy the silence of a pornographic film actress on the eve of the 2016 election.
Former President Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has accused the Manhattan prosecutor, Democrat Alvin Bragg, of “The witch's trial” politically motivated to prevent his run for the White House in the 2024 elections.
President Biden refused to comment when asked if he was concerned about possible protests.
In New York, a small group of protesters say Mr. Trump must face a fair trial in the face of charges brought by a jury consisting of ordinary Americans.
Mr. Trump's supporters took to the streets of West Palm Beach City of Florida, near where he lives. Mr. Trump has called for mass protests if the actadia rose against him. One expert told the Voice of America that the whole world will see whether the protests will be peaceful or whether there will be political violence, as happened on January 6, 2021 at the convention building.
Other countries will carefully follow if they have ended the trends on January 6th or if there is still the possibility of civil unrest in the United States”, says Michael Kimmage with American Catholic University.
A number of prominent republics have denounced the indictment against Mr. Trump as politically motivated. Among them are former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. They are seen as potential competitors in the face of Mr. Trump to receive the Republican Party's appointment in the presidential elections.
An expert told the Voice of America that this is disturbing.
I'm very disappointed that there are Republican leaders, not all of them, but some of them, who criticise the act they haven't read, because it's not yet made public”, says Cecile Shea with the Council of Chicago for Global Affairs.

Experts Cecile Shea told the Voice of America that it would be disturbing if Mr. Trump's legal problems take on larger proportions, as he has become almost a cult to his supporters. She noted that the political climate in the United States is much more emotional and polarised compared to 50 years ago when President Nixon resigned. / VOA
