Excess and Labor Festivals Harm Financially

So yesterday, public sector workers stopped because Saturday was Constitutional Day, while today the same does not work because Sunday was Catholic Easter.

Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Director Zana Beqiri through a telephone link said that, according to them, these holidays are being considered numerous and are affecting business development as well as staff burden.

She stressed that they have addressed the Government of Kosovo for reviewing the Law for Official Holidays, but have not yet received an answer.

We've submitted several requests for years and haven't received any answers yet. We asked for the holidays to be celebrated on the fall day, if it's the weekend, let's celebrate the weekend, but it doesn't mean we should get a compensation for the official party. Even this year we have asked the prime minister to assess this request... We see it as harmful, because instead of being 14 days of official holidays, we have the official holiday day as well as a working day that gets into business”, Beqiri said.

She adds that putting off working days is also affecting the productivity of businesses and the load of workers.

It also requires celebrating but not on vacation days such as April 9, Constitution Day, and May 9th Europe Day, while communities' holidays are holiday for these categories, but not for the whole country.

All these remarks we have from businesses are remarks that affect business and affect business in general. It can also affect productivity, but it can also affect the staff because when a job arrives you'd be done in 22 days of work in a month, when you have all those public holidays you have to rush and end up in less days. This affects the load and motivation of staff”, she stressed.
