Jonathan Mayier, reports the newspaper de Telegrah, has been forbidden to donate sperm to clinics, according to the court's decision. The fine he faces if his donations continue could rise to 100,000 euros per violation.
The court also ordered Meier to announce clinics abroad to destroy his sperm in the warehouse, except those destined for parents who already had children from him.
The decision followed a civil lawsuit initiated by a foundation that represents the interests of children born of donated sperm and Dutch parents who had used Meier as a sperm donor.
They argued that continued gifts of Meier's sperm violate the privacy rights of children born of his sperm, whose ability to have sex is hampered by fear of potential incest.
However, he continued to donate his sperm abroad, including the Danish sperm bank Creyos, active internationally. The 41-year-old also continued to be offered as donors on web sites that match possible parents with sperm donors, sometimes using another name, according to the daily Algemen Dagblad.
