This should shut down”, he appealed.
The increase in violence followed days of tensions and clashes in the holy sites, including intervention and use of force by Israeli police within the Al-Axa mosque complex, as Borrell noted.
“The EU condemns violent incidents that took place in holy sites and remembers that the status quo of all sacred sites should be preserved”, Borrell said.
He also condemned the <x0jolectual <x0) attacks with rockets against Israel from Gaza and Lebanon territory, which killed two Israelis and left one seriously injured.
Israel has the right to defend itself. At the same time, any response should be proportional”, he added.
Borrell said the EU asks all parties to set out maximum content, avoid further escalation and promote tranquillity for ongoing religious holidays”.
Israeli police said on Wednesday they arrested 350 Palestinians from the Al-Axa Mosque complex in the Eastern Kurdish, while witnesses said they used excessive force, including tear gas.
The following day, the Israelite army said that at least 30 rockets were hurled from southern Lebanon to Israel.
Israel considered Hamas responsible for the missile attacks, saying they were carried out by members of Hamas stationed in Lebanon.
Later, Israel announced the launch of an attack on Gaza in the evening, while the missile was also launched from Gaza towards Israel.
One person was reportedly killed and seven others were injured in an armed attack and a car-pressure incident in Tel Aviv on Friday evening.
Israel invaded the eastern Kurdish during the 1967 Arab-Israelian War and later annexed the entire city in 1980 a move never recognised by the international community. /Abc news
