So said at least, according to Serbian media N1, at one of the EP report's points on Serbia's progress on its path towards EU membership.
“We reiterate our full support for the EU special representative for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, and invite Serbia and Kosovo to engage in this trust dialogue and the spirit of compromise to reach a legally binding, legally binding agreement for normalising their relations based on the principle of mutual recognition in accordance with international law and without further delay, says one paragraph of this report, Klankosovat.
The report calls for full, confidential and timely implementation of all relevant agreements on both sides, including the establishment of the Serbian Majority Commission Association.
This amendment also says that “is believed that a final and comprehensive solution will foster co-operation, stability and prosperity in the wider” region.
It also calls on both sides to show leadership and to be willing to make the necessary decisions that lead to the progress of dialogue and reconciliation between their societies, and points out that the current geopolitical environment makes it even more important to exceed past heritage and engagement in meaningful negotiations.
The normalisation of relations is a priority and precondition for EU membership is stressed.
The added engagement of both sides is accepted and the governments of Serbia and Kosovo are required to refrain from any action that could harm trust between the parties and jeopardise the constructive continuation of the” dialogue, the report says.
It also remembers that “refraining from war rhetoric and an aggressive approach of foreign policy to neighbouring countries is a prerequisite for normalising regional relations”.
All actions that threaten stability and question the reconciliation process are severely punished.
“has deep concern for tensions in northern Kosovo and unacceptable shooting on the eve of Orthodox Christmas and several other violent incidents directed at Serbs in Kosovo. The arbitrary ban by politician Rada Trajkovic at the Merdare crossing in December 2022 is condemned and calls for transparent and thorough investigation into these incidents and the perpetrators are invited before responsibility. The common responsibility for the peace and rule of the law of all people in Kosovo is remembered, and concern is expressed over the allegations of the role of organised criminal groups operating in northern Kosovo and their alleged ties to state structures in Serbia, said the EP report on Serbia.
It is stressed that the “failure to effectively resolve tensions in relations between Serbia and Kosovo increases the risk of destabilisation in the region”.
