So said during a media conference of the organisation “Rma Versita Kosova”, on the occasion of the International Roma Day note.
Genc Broqi presented the project “The Fiquation of students through monitoring”, which said it is aimed at supporting students belonging to community groups, to further the education process.
One of the co-ordinators of the project, Fatlum Kryeziu, said the employment issue remains a challenge for Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian, as over 40% of these groups are unemployed.
The employment theme, for Roma groups Ashkali, Egyptian, is one of the most challenging topics in which the Roma community faces daily Sosa. Today since it is April 8th we enjoy more attention and the way of expression during the conference, I believe it will affect advancing the rights of Roma members Ashkali, Egyptian. Employment is an extraordinary challenge in Kosovo. Over 40% of the members of the RAE and others are unemployed also local unemployment leaves much to yearn for these members of these groups, and they always stand by on the employment issue. We with initiatives that we've had like “Rma Versitas Kosova”, we've been struggling directly to ease unemployment, where through donors and institutions we've tried to reduce the number of unemployment of these groups in Kosovo... The situation in education has begun to improve... We have managed to have a considerable number of students who have graduated, and every day and more we want to influence their employment”, he said.
Shendriza Prokshi, one of the co-ordinators, said these groups also face discrimination in education. As for the project, it adds that five municipalities will be included.
The Roma community as a marginalised group is having and facing limited access to education, employment and key areas for any society. Education discrimination is a reality for the Roma community, while the Government of Kosovo includes not adequate mechanisms for implementing these mechanisms in the field of education and employment, but as such, they find no implementation, so this project is dedicated to the Roma community, Ashkali, Egyptian in five municipalities like: Peja, Prizren, Gjakova, Obilqi and Gracanica”, she stressed.
Within communities and their education crisis, a project has also been realised. Genc Broqi, project manager “The performance of students through monitoring”, said it is aimed at supporting students belonging to communities so that they can have self-confidence and not abandon the education process.
And finally, Spring Begolli from the organisation “Rma Versita Kosova”, during this news conference, announced that a festival will be organised, where there will be films reflecting the lives and difficulties of these groups.
