Defence extends deadline until 24 April to respond to prosecution's motion

The court has approved former President Hashim Thaci's defence request, supported by the defence of Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, extending the deadline for defence responses by 24 April 2023, to the prosecution's motion to accept the prosecution's statements. Parasely, at the beginning of Monday's hearing, Thaci's defender, lawyer Gregory Kehoe has reminded the court of the request submitted on the morning of this day, reports the “Justice Vow”.
Meanwhile, Judge Charles Smith III had warned that he would give an oral order on this matter during the day.
The defence, through this request, has called for the extension of the deadline, which has been until April 17th, 2023, naming it insufficient time for response.
In terms of this requirement, the SPS has submitted objections during this session, saying it is a request made late.
Prosecutor James Pace said, however, that after seeing the request, they do not disclose anything that might have been raised earlier, saying it is a request that is not necessary to accept.
The trial “Trup has examined the request for a period since a long period of time, so it is not necessary to accept or approve Mr. Thaci”, he said.
Judge Smith said Thaci's defense had to do that at the moment when they realized they could not provide answers, not at the last moment.
Meanwhile, Judge Smith said before he went on with the hearing of the second witness that the person responsible for the witness asking questions has the right to make comments, adding that “we don't want different people giving comments to”.
Otherwise, two revised material translations such as material evidence that have not been contested by the SPS and accepted by the juro have been handed over before the safety break.
The session is continuing in private session.
