CEC does not cast new lots for elections in the north

CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has announced to Kosova Preis that the ranking of political subjects, derived from the withdrawal of the draw on December 7th of 2022, will apply. This, as he said, has not had new applications for participation in elections in the country's north.

The Central Election Commission will not organise a new draw of lots for ranking political subjects in the September 23rd election ballot for mayors of the four municipalities and for the two municipal municipalities. The reason lies in the fact that during the new process of applying political subjects and candidates, there has been no such one. This means that political subjects and certified candidates are in the process last year, and the drawout on December 7,” will be worth it.

The CEC is continuing preparations for organising extraordinary elections for mayor of northern municipalities. And within that context, Elez said it is also the functioning of the Municipal Election Commissions Offices.

The Central Election Commission is continuing with preparations for organising extraordinary elections for mayors: Northern Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zvecan and early elections for municipal assemblies: Zvecan and Leposaviq, which will be held on April 23, 2023.

Within these preparations is also the functioning of the Municipal Election Commissions Offices in each of these municipalities, and in this direction we are in contact with relevant institutions, which have their role in different aspects during the election process. The functioning of the Municipal Election Commissions Offices will be done to provide services to citizens and political subjects, as required by the General Election Law and the Law for Local Elections. All necessary information will be made public with a time of”, Elez said.

Otherwise, according to the draw-up on December 7, 2022, political subjects have this ranking: Mitrovica Civic Initiative, number 111, Democratic Party of Kosovo 112, Party Kostovskih Srbska 113, Sladjana Pantovic (independent candidate) 114 and Vetevendosje Movement, number 115.
