Serbia, the only state in Europe that has refused to sanction Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, has agreed to supply Kiev with weapons and has already sent weapons there, reported in classified Pentagon documents, Reuters reported.
The document, which is a collection of European governments' responses to Ukraine's demands for military training and “lethal assistance” or weapons, was among dozens of classified documents that have been published online in recent weeks, in what may be the most serious flow of American secrets in years.
Titled” Europe, the response to the conflict that is continuing Russia-Ukraine”, the document in the form of a chart lists “attitudes of 38 European governments in response to Ukraine's requests for military assistance, writes the REL.
It says Serbia has refused to provide training for Ukrainian forces, but has pledged to send lethal aid or has just sent supplies. The document also said Serbia has political will and military capacity to send weapons to Ukraine in the future.
The document is marked with <x0 secret” and “NO KFOR”, halting its distribution to foreign intelligence services and armies. The document holds March 2nd and is stamped with the stamp of the Chief of General Staff's office.
Reuters has failed to independently verify the authenticity of this document.
The office of the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuciq, and the Ukraine Embassy have not responded to the requests for comment.
The Pentagon has also not responded immediately to questions concerning references to this document to Serbia, and earlier has also refused to comment on any documents that are translated into public.
Vuciqi's government has expressed neutrality in the war in Ukraine, despite his country's deep historical, economic and cultural ties with Russia.
If the document is accurate, it either shows Vuciki's duplicity toward Russia or he is under great pressure from Washington to send weapons to Ukraine”, said Janusz Bugajski, expert for Eastern Europe at the Jamestown Foundation.
The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating documents that have been released to the public, meanwhile, the Pentagon is assessing the damage caused to US national security.
The Pentagon's graph answers to aid requirements made by Ukraine are divided into four categories: states that have pledged to provide training and lethal aid; states that have only provided training, lethal assistance or both; states that have military skills and political will “to provide lethal assistance in the future”.
Austria and Malta are the only states that have been marked by “jo” in all four categories.
The discovery of this graph comes just a month after the documents were published in a pro-Russian channel on the Telegram app, and allegedly documents indicate the shipment made by a Serbian land-land rocket manufacturer of the women 122 millimeters. This shipment was allegedly sent to Kiev in November. The document also includes a delivery manifest and a certificate of the final user allegedly Ukrainian government.
Moscow said in March that it had asked Belgrade for an official explanation regarding alleged shipments, according to state news agency T. The ASS quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Serbian arms producer Krusik denied offering rockets or other weapons to Ukraine. Vuciq named these claims as “denies”.
We have not exported any weapons or ammunition to Russia or Ukraine”, he said on March 5th, while visiting Qatar.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine in February last year, Vuciq has tried to balance the close reports he has with Moscow and its goal of Serbia joining the European Union.
But Serbia is the only state among 44 European states that has not imposed sanctions on Russia.
