American Geologists predict next earthquake in Turkey

More than two months have passed by powerful earthquakes that killed thousands of people in Turkey and Syria, and now one group of experts say there could be another similar earthquake. According to a recent study by the University of Southern California (USC), published in “Seismica”, a section of the fault has [...]
According to a recent study by the University of Southern California (USC), published in “Seismica”, part of the breach has remained blocked.
A signal showing that when friction grows, breaking can lead to new earthquakes when it lands. USSC geophysicist Sylvan Barbot, along with other researchers, documented, thanks to remote sensors, the quake that killed more than 50,000 people in eastern Turkey on February 6th.
We know a little bit better about what to prepare for. We don't know the moment, but we know where it can happen”, Barbot said in a USC statement.
We have this region, the Pütürge District, where we can expect an earthquake of 6.8 magnitude. The population must prepare for this”, Barbot concludes.
