The agreement paves the way for the use of air corridors between Kosovo and Montenegro, for civilian aviation, which so far were used for NATO military flights.
This is a step as important as necessary to regulate airspace between our two republics. The agreement we signed today offers new opportunities for civil aviation development, enabling the cutoff of air routes and flight time for 15 minutes. It reduces emissions of harmful gases, as well as lowers the cost of flights affecting the price of tickets to travellers”, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said.
He said that regional co-operation and accelerated European integrations have also been discussed at the meeting.
Montenegro's acting prime minister, Dritan Abazovic, said political changes in his country would not affect relations with Kosovo.
Some political processes have occurred in Montenegro, but this will not change any political against official Kosovo. You can count in Montenegro on what would be the international activities of the Republic of Kosovo in the future, and we are willing to support our capabilities”, said Mr. Abazovic, referring to the presidential elections in Montenegro, in which the long-standing leader of the small Balkan country, Milo Djukanovic, lost.
“We come with a peaceful message, a friendly message, and even in the future we will try to create a good regional atmosphere, where two states provide an example of what relations between the two governments --” should be, Abazovic said.
