17kg of explosives to kill Putin, Bild: How did the bomber fail me?

Ukrainian secret service agents tried to kill Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, with a suicide bomber in charge of explosives (UAV), but their mission failed after the UAV crashed several kilometers from the target, a report reported by the German newspaper Bild on Thursday. Ukrainian forces reportedly released the UJ-22 threat, loaded with 17kg of C4 explosives, from Ukraine on Sunday with the intention of reaching a newly built industrial property near Moscow, where Putin would visit.

But before the deadly threat reached the industrial park “Rudnevo”, it fell just a few miles from the country, Bild claimed, citing a tweet from Ukrainian activist Yuri Romanenko.

Romanenko, who claims to have close ties to Kiev intelligence services, has said Ukrainian secret service agents had received “information” about Putin's travel to the industrial zone and had decided to drop lethal fears in an attempt to kill the Russian president.

He claimed to fear kamikaz that had collapsed in the village of Voroskogo, about 12km east of Rudnevo industrial park, was what Ukrainian forces had started as part of the assassination plot.

In a Twitter post quoted by Bild, Romanenko wrote: “Putin approaching. Everyone saw the news about the fear that flew to Moscow, but didn't it explode? So this drop flew for a reason”.

Kiev has not yet officially commented on claims made at Bild.

Ukraine's military expert, Sergey Sumlen, has said that “is clear that an exact blow against the head of the Russian state with a kamikaz scare is an almost impossible act.”

But the very fact that such fear would reach a place where Putin planned to visit is a slap on the Russian dictator.

Putin is reportedly afraid of the murder since the invasion of Ukraine after the strike squads were sent to Ukraine to kill Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky in the early days of the conflict.

Putin has earlier claimed to have escaped numerous assassination attempts.
