Warns Janjiq: barricades in the north again if Serbian List does not participate in elections on April 23rd

If elections in four Serb-run northern municipalities are held on April 23rd without Serb List participation, “is realistic to expect the reconstruction of barricades”, Belgrade Interethnic Relations Forum Director Dusan Janjic believes. Asked whether the arguments of international diplomatic representatives in Kosovo are valid about how the Association could be formed without Serbian List participation in the election, he estimates these are the same positions as Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurtin.
Their “Thessis is not correct because under the Ohrid Agreement the Serbian Communist Association Act must be adopted within 30 days. The agreement comes into force only when it is verified what is done with political decision, but not with administrative movements, that the Ohrid Agreement becomes part of Chapter 35. We are not counting those 30 days for the launch of a draft of the Statut”, he said of Danas.
Janzic blames the Germans and the French for wanting “undermine the US administration's desire to see visible success by May.
The “must appear before the 23rd [April] with a clear statement from the QUINT that the agreement for completing the security and institutional vacuum has been reached, that Belgrade has agreed that Serbs should return to institutions through the elections, so let it happen by 23rd, but then should delay registration deadlines. The second thing that needs to happen is to start disarming and start returning to institutions, meaning reducing the presence of the Kosovo Special Police Forces in the north”, he adds.
The “can predict responsibly that if these elements are not respected, barricades in the north can be expected. They may want elections not to take place, and they accuse Serbia, but it has nothing to do with the Agreement on the road to normalising relations”, Janjic says, among other things.
