Now it is the possibility for both sides to exploit the moment. The normalisation of relations between the two countries is primary or crucial to the security, stability and prosperity of the region. So I very much hope that both sides will be very constructive in the future in the talks”, Von der Leyen said in a proposal for the European Agency ER.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, will meet with European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell on March 18th in Ohrid, where they will discuss normalising relations based on the new EU plan, supported by the US.
The fight in Ukraine underscores the geostrategic importance of the EU enlargement process and we want to bring our partners to the Western Balkans as soon as possible and as soon as possible with the European Union”, Von der Leyeen added.
If the European plan is implemented, it will mark an important step forward in the difficult process of normalising relations launched in 2013 under EU auspices.
