The non-smoking law in closed spaces continues to be ignored by most locals. But “ulmatium” by Agriculture Minister Faton Peci, that there will be zero tolerance, it is not being respected in government objects either.

During yesterday's day, Minister Faton Peci has announced that after yesterday's inspections across Kosovo, a significant number of fines have been pronounced in connection with the failure to implement the Law on Smoking.
Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Minister Faton Peci has sought from the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), which is based on legal responsibilities, as well as the interest in full functionality over its mandate and responsibilities, to take rigorous measures against the implementation of the Law on Tobacco Control, as well as increased activity of the Sanitary Inspectors in the field.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture's announcement, Minister Peci has said that every citizen of Kosovo enjoys the legal right to be protected from exposure to tobacco smoke. From today, zero tolerance of tobacco in closed environments, public spaces, work, public transportation spaces, and any other space defined by Law No. 04/ L-156 for smoking control”, Peci was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, for disrespecting the law in question by both physical persons and judicial subjects, it is said to follow fines, which the law also defines.
The tobacco - control law was adopted in 2013 as changes and completions in the section of the Law where fines are presented entered into force early 2022.
Under the Anti-smoking Law, if you smoke in the areas where it is prohibited by law, fine subjects are between 1,000 and three thousand euros, until for the physical person 30 to 50 euros.
