The Turkish Parliament voted unanimously in favour of Finland's membership Thursday, clearing the latest obstacle to the accession process.
The vote meets “promised” by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to allow Finland in the defence coalition. Turkey was last member NATO, which approved Finland's accession, although Hungary did so only Monday.
The news has also been made known by Finnish President Saul Niinsto on the social Twitter network.
“Finland is now ready to join NATO and is waiting for Sweden to join the future”, he wrote among other things, where he also thanked the 30 member states for confidence.
