Ukraine has said Russia has launched fearful attacks on several regions of state overnight, after the International Criminal Court has announced it has issued arrest warrants against Russian President Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes.
The Ukrainian Air Force has said Russia has launched 16 drone attacks in the early hours of March 18th, and that 11 fears have been dropped by air protection systems “centre, west and east”.
Among the target areas was capital, Kiev and the western Lviv region.
Serhiy Popko, leader of Kiev's military administration, has said Ukrainian air defence has down all fears that have headed towards the Ukrainian capital, until Maksym Kozytskiy, the governor of the Lviv region, has said six fears are targeting that area, and three have collapsed.
The head of the Ukrainian Presidency staff has said three senior American officials for security have held a virtual meeting with Ukrainian counterparts to discuss military assistance to Kiev.
“We have discussed the necessary assistance for our state, in particular mobile equipment, weapons and ammunition”, said Andriy Yermak in a post in the telegram.
Meanwhile, American President Joe Biden has said that the International Criminal Court verdict “is justified” and that Putin “has clearly committed war crimes”.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said Russia considers cases raised by the International Criminal Court as unacceptable “” and has said Russia, like many other states, does not recognise the jurisdiction of this court.
In Ukraine, Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelensky has called the decision a prehistoric “, from which to begin historical responsibility”.
The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war “special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes.
