Milan Mihailovic, who was arrested in October last year and due to his involvement in the murder of Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovic, was released Wednesday.
The prosecutor of the case in his case has failed to collect evidence of the criminal acts he is charged with.
Besides being accused of being the “directly related to the group that has claimed Ivanovic”, Mihailovic is charged with being part of the “organised criminal group that carried out activities in the north”, writes Kossev.
His legal representative, Miodrag Brkljac, has confirmed to KoSSev that Mihailovic was released yesterday and that he is with his family from last night in Leposaviq.
After five months in custody, the judge's decision on preliminary procedure has been released from custody. He's in Leposaviq with his family”, he said.
The move was revoted, but the judge, as the lawyer further explains, introduced another measure of presentation in the commissioners twice a week. It must appear at the station on Tuesday and Thursday, and that measure will last two months until May 15th.
Brkljac explains that the judge has initially concluded, what he himself has noted, that in five months the prosecutor has failed to collect any single evidence.
“Five months is enough for him to collect some evidence confirming his thesis that there is a suspicion based that Mihailovic has committed the criminal work for which he is charged”, Brkljac believes.
The second thing the judge decided to release Mihailovic is, as Brklic points out, the fact that he is a resident of Leposaviqi, that he has residence there, that he has lived in a home there and continues to live with his family. His children go to school there, because he has the parents ' home and property in a nearby village, and that he cultivates raisins.
“Consequently, the judge concluded that he had no motive to leave Kosovo”, Brklic says.
The prosecutor, on the other hand, has again demanded that Mihailovic continue custody for two months, which the judge has immediately refused.
Mihailovic was questioned last week, but he denied the accusations against him, which are “participation in serious murder” and “membership in an organised criminal group”.
His lawyer estimates that the worst “accus against him is that he is directly linked to the group of people who took the life of Oliver Ivanovic.
Likewise, Brkljac considers it a serious charge that he is a member of an organised criminal group that carried out activities in northern Kosovo and that he thus participates in committing various serious crimes.
All this remains in the dark, because the prosecutor has not gathered evidence. But we'll see what they'll do next. If they are going to condemn him or maybe give up the procedure we will see, I wouldn't want to offer”, Mihailovic's lawyer told CoSSev.
Mihailovic was arrested on October 20th in 2022, although he has been on the run since 2019.
According to the Pristina prosecution, he has also been arrested on suspicion that as a member of the organised criminal group, he has actively participated in executing the criminal act of “Action or organisation of the organised criminal group” concerning the criminal. Criminal work “Heavy murder” for the murder of Oliver Ivanovic.
Milan Radoicic and Zvonko Veselinovic are mentioned in the third indictment in the case of Oliver Ivanovic's murder, in addition to the six names of those appointed as leaders of the criminal group linked to the murder of this Serbian politician.
The investigation into Veselinovic began in April 2019, when Milan Mihailovic's name was added to the list of persons to be investigated.
Also, in December 2021 the US Finance Ministry's list of 13 businesses and people from the north who were brought under US sanctions, among them were names from the indictment, so names mentioned in the indictment. about the murder of Oliver Ivanovic: Milan Radojic, Zvonko Veselinovic, Zarko Veselinovic, Zelko Bojq, Marko Rossic and Milan Mihailovic.
