Chairman The PDK, Memli Krasniqi, briefed members of the Steering Council for the numerous meetings and discussions of recent days with local and international acts in which it is discussed political currentity.
In his speech, discussing the European proposal, Mayor Krasniqi said this agreement is insufficient and does not realise Kosovo's state goals and its citizens.
“From an agreement with mutual recognition at the centre today, unfortunately, Prime Minister Kurti has brought the country a temporary agreement with association at the centre”, said Chairman Krasniqi.
Furthermore, Chairman Krasniqi said only a final and comprehensive agreement, legally binding and internationally guaranteed, focused on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, enables lasting peace and concrete advancement of the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Steering Council approved, without a single vote, the declaration proposed by Chairman Memli Krasniqi in relation to the current political situation and the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

- The ongoing Democratic Party of Kosovo has supported the dialogue on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia and has also encouraged the current government to engage seriously in this process, with the aim of achieving the state goals of the Republic of Kosovo, which have been working on for many years.
- The currently proposed and already accepted agreement by Republika Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is insufficient and fails to achieve the state goals of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens.
- The Democratic Party of Kosovo believes that only a final and comprehensive agreement, legally binding and internationally guaranteed, focused on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, enables lasting peace and concrete advancement of the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Kosovo.
- Furthermore, we believe that the agreement should preserve the unitary character of our state, within the current constitutional arrangement, as well as create real possibilities for formal recognition of Kosovo's citizenship on the part of five non-recognitional EU states, launching the NATO membership process, initially through participation in the “Parterity for Peace”, as well as obtaining the status of candidate state for EU membership, without leaving the respect of agreements previously reached.
- The current situation is a consequence of Prime Minister Albin Kurti's irresponsible approach and successive mistakes in the dialogue process and in relation to the international partners of the Republic of Kosovo.
- The Democratic Party of Kosovo, as an official party, has always decided and will put state interest ahead of party interest.
- We will continue communication and close co-ordination with Kosovo's international partners, to push ahead our common aspirations for a consolidated state in the international and integrated arena into the Euro-Atlantic family. /Periscopi/
