EU special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Miroslav Lajcak said at a meeting with opposition representatives in Serbia that the EU heard what Serbia's red lines are about a possible agreement with Pristina, Nova.rs writes.
Foreignly, Lajcak told the opposition that President Aleksandar Vuciq has told German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron that Serbia's <x0-line red lines” are Kosovo's UN membership and recognition of Pristina's independence.
In addition, Lajcak also presented Article 4 of the European proposal, which is required by Serbia not to oppose Pristina's membership in the UN. These are the expectations of European officials, to normalise relations between the two sides.
As explained earlier, Serbia, with the signing of the agreement, would take over not to oppose Kosovo's membership in any international organisation, which means even in the United Nations.
However, Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq, in a presentation to the RTS, said he would not sign Kosovo's membership in the UN.“We are making a implementation plan, so Lajcak will come here and to Pristina. I am ready to negotiate everything else, but this (Kosovo in the UN) I will not sign... I repeat, I will not participate in implementing certain things. While I am president, I will accept neither formal nor informal recognition of Kosovo and its entry into the UN. And after me look at what you're going to do”, he declared.
