Lack of nurses affects the quality of the QKUK services

The lack of middle staff, respectively, of nurses has led to the quality of many health services for patients not to the desired level over the years at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo. The health system in Kosovo is also facing staff departure to European Union countries. Nurses who say they will release Kosovo for working conditions and better salaries have spoken to Radio Kosovo.

The insufficient number of nurses at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo has been and continues to remain a challenge for the patient's service, because the health system in Kosovo is constantly facing the departure of nurses.

Leonita Spahiu and Besiana Murati, who have begun working as a nurse at QKUU, have expressed dissatisfaction with the salaries that nurses receive.

Nurses at a proposal for Radio Kosovo say that because of poor pay, they see with much the best the profession in the future to exercise outside Kosovo and that they are also following the German language course.

I often see myself working abroad as a nurse, because in Kosovo wages are very low and to have a better life there. I think the best salary would be 800 euros for a nurse, had enough to live in Kosovo. Even in Kosovo, I would have worked if it was the biggest salary and working conditions were higher, I had never gone abroad”, she said.

While CKUK clinic directors have had the addition of five nurses for at least every clinic for 2023.

While the SHSKUK in a response to Radio Kosovo has said the latest competition for nurses would at least ease their lack of clinics.

Under the announced competition, employment opportunities will have 70 nurses with bachel degree, 15 middle school nurses, 10 batgen technicians with Bachelor diplomas, and five bachlor medical labs. Employment of these frameworks will greatly ease the lack of nurses and increase the quality of health services”, the SHSKUK response said.

Radio Kosovo has sent questions to the Ministry of Health about the SSHKUK's open competition for 70 nurses, whether this number is sufficient while clinic requests are much larger for nurses, but until the publication of this article, we have not received answers.
