The road leading from Pristina to Gjilan, exactly in the neighbourhood of Veternik in Pristina, poses great danger to citizens. This is because some of them spend the day on obstacles to the other side of the road because there is no pedestrian crossing.
And the number of accidents taking place on this road is not small, because of the lack of overpass or underpass, seen as the solution to this road.
Communications expert Bekim Ahmeti claims competent organs have had to intervene as soon as possible on the road to Veternik and not expect an overpass to be built.
Ahmeti said that in the last ten years, as a result of the accidents, 1,000 and 317 people have lost their lives, which has been called the bloody Decade “.
In the absence of overpass, accidents occur because on both sides of the road, there are businesses that need to be interlocked throughout the day, but also at night. As a result, the competent organs had to intervene as soon as possible rather than expect a overpass to be built, then for about six miles [10 km] no more construction and the situation be miserable. It is only known that pedestrians cannot move from one side to the other side of the road, and accidents are taking place. For the last ten years, we have 1,317 victims who have been bloody decades, have been named, and as a key result, the very speed of the” movement has been precisely, Ahmeti said.
According to him, the solution to this path has had to be made when street - expansion work is started, not according to it, to take action when accidents occur.
This road had to go parallel. When road expansion is made and overpass or underpass, rather than waiting after some accidents occur, take measures in this regard. We adapt to the speed of movement, the main problem is the subjective problem, because it needs to adjust the speed of movement, of one of the main problems is the slowness of the” movement, he told Kosovas.
The communications expert underlined that setting the pedestrian crossing on this road is not a solution. His only solution is overpass or underpass.
The “Zebra doesn't do because it's a national way. There's no way for zebras, if we put the zebras in, then we have to accompany them with vertical signals and they're likely to ignore drivers. The zebras are not usually done on national and national roads. Overpass and underpass, there is no other option”, he added.
Of Kosovo Police statistics, 28 traffic accidents with injuries and 31 traffic accidents with material damage have occurred during the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, in May 2020, an agreement has been signed between former Infrastructure and Environment Minister Lumir Abdixhiku and former Pristina leader Shpend Ahmeti, in which construction of the pedestrian overpass in the Veternik neighbourhood has been focused.
Almost three years have passed, and the work of building this overpass has yet to begin. In announcing the contract published by the Public Procure Regulatory Commission, this construction has been announced would cost over 1m euros.
