US: Kurti and Vuciq to show constructiveness in Ohrid to fully implement European proposal

The US State Department has said they expect Kosovo and Serbia to use the March 18th meeting in Ohrid to show commitment to a region with a peaceful future. From Washington they say they encourage Kurti and Vucinqiqi to show flexible and constructiveness as they move towards full implementation of the Franco-German proposal. [...]

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic, will meet in Ohrid on March 18th, where they will discuss the Impulation of the Franco-German proposal. However, Kosovo Government head Albin Kurti has indicated today that everything may not finally be decided in Ohrid. While it has reiterated Kosovo's readiness to sign at the next meeting and has stressed that if there is no agreement, it is obvious who the destructive side is.

Meanwhile, Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic insists extremely much on the issue of Association and has re-focused several times that Serbia will allow Kosovo's membership in the United Nations organisation and will not have recognition of Kosovo's independence.

But what are the expectations of the United States of America from the March 18th meeting in Ohrid. In a response to Gazeta Express, a spokesman for the US State Department has said they expect Kosovo and Serbia to use the March 18th meeting in Ohrid to demonstrate their commitment to a peaceful future for the region.

This spokesman has added further that the US encourages Kosovo and Serbia to work constructively and flexiblely for the full implementation of the Franco-German proposal and has re-focused the strong support of the dialogue facilitated by the European Union.

We expect both sides to exploit talks in Ohrid, in Northern Macedonia to demonstrate their commitment to a peaceful future for the region. We encourage the parties to continue to engage constructively and flexiblely as they move towards the full implementation of this proposal. We fully support the dialogue mediated by the European Union”, an American State Department spokesman has said.

Regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and a potential agreement today, EU emissary Miroslav Lajcak has spoken in an interview for Serbia's public television. Lajcak said if he didn't have the association there would be no deal either.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, meanwhile, has reaffirmed several times that Kosovo will create one-ethnic association even despite the fact that in the Franco-German proposal, the parties will implement all agreements reached in the past under Brussels' dialogue.

On March 18th in Brussels, discussions will take place on the Imploment Annex, in which it will most likely be negotiated also on the issue of the Association of Serb Major communities, which internationals seek.
