The Albanian MP in Serbia's Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, has said that the potential creation of the Serb-run municipality Association of Majorities in Kosovo would create a dangerous precedent in the region.
Kamberi said ahead of the meeting of Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq that any rights granted to the Serb community in Kosovo should also be given to the Albanian community in Serbia.
“The issue of the Presevo Valley should be addressed, because the precedent that is trying to build, by building an all-powerful minority, in a part of the Western Balkans, is a dangerous precedent for peace and does not provide guarantees that the eventual agreement reached between the two states will create a lasting” peace, Kamberi told Klan Kosovo.
Our requirement is to build a symmetry in the right, so the level of rights that should be realised will have to be identical to what Serbs have in Kosovo. What will be the instruments through which those rights will be realised is a topic of discussion in the future”, the only Albanian MP in Serbia's Parliament said.
Kamberi said he cannot succeed without a final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, with mutual recognition.
