Ideal silence for finding part of Dehar's samples: All Things Known in the Case

Telegrafi reported on Friday that samples had moved from the toxicology laboratory to another refrigerator within the IML.

Referring to the source, the found samples are glucose and urine, while blood samples are missing.

“The investment commission found in a refrigerator that is not covered by security cameras. Police investigators are working with full capacity to find out how half of Dehar's” samples ended up in that refrigerator, a Telegraph source suggested.

The moment Telegrafi received safe information from the source, efforts began to contact the case prosecutor, Agim Shefkiu, Special Prosecutor, Justice Ministry (MD), the Kosovo Police and the deputy director of the IML, Ditor Haliti, but without success. None of the officers, except the ministry, responded to the calls or answered the questions sent.

Of the MD's told Telegram that only police and Prosecution can respond to this case, as these two institutions have launched investigations that the disappearance of December samples.

There has been no reaction from President Vjosa Osmani or Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

After the Telegraph and some media reports, the first to react was Dehari family lawyer Tome Gashi, but neither has he provided any details that would serve to inform citizens.

They're saying they found...! Some journalists are asking if the Astri Dehar samples were found. I'm telling you I don't know. But if you know they've been found to know who's under investigation or in prison for eliminating samples from the Pristina Institute of Legal Medicine”, Gashi wrote on Facebook.

While Democratic League of Kosovo MP Doarsa Kica-Jeli commented on the case, he said it is “serial terror over justice”.

“Now they're turning into a refrigerator without access to cameras. What country are we talking about? What justice are we talking about? What investigation are we talking about? This is not shocking. This is terror! Terror over justice! ”, she wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

How did Dehar's samples disappear?

On December 8, 2022, Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu went to the media conference and announced that Astrit Dehari samples from the toxicology laboratory in IML have disappeared.

She said this heavy act was observed while carrying samples from old refrigerators to young ones.

The MDI later announced that it has suspended four IML officials in connection with the case.

The Institute for Legal Medicine's disciplinary Commission had made a decision on suspending officials' jobs: Nardi Sugargiu, forensic toxicist at the Goga Institute for Legal Medicine, the head of the toxicology laboratory at the Institute for Legal Medicine. Anila Lakna, technical of the toxicology laboratory at the Institute for Legal Medicine, and Ilirjana Shala, chemist at the Institute for Legal Medicine. After the suspension, the same have returned to work.

Ditor Haliti, deputy director of the Law Medicine Institute, has earlier declared that the four employees suspended under the decision of the disciplinary commission on December 8th of 2022, have returned to work.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Haki Abazi -- at the same time MP in the Kosovo Assembly, Hakki Abazi with 16.02.23 -- has asked the Prosecution to question the country's Prime Minister Albin Kurti for the disappearance of Astrit Dehar samples, from the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML).

Ahaz, during a media conference, has also called for the prosecution to question Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiun as well as Dejona Mihalin, Nazlie Balaj and Gogaj Bajrami butterflies.

“IML is on surveillance with a 24-hour camera. And I said that the prosecution should question Albin Kurti, Dejona Mihalin, Albulen Haxhiun, Nazlie Balaj and Gogaj Bajrami butterflies. Dehar's case is too heavy to hold on to the shoulders of citizens seeking justice. And the LVV platform was that justice should come to light”, he said.

And Ahaz has asked how it is possible to eliminate Dehar's samples and Prime Minister Kurti not to say a word.

Neither we as citizens nor as deputies can remain silent in the face of such a process. We all have to do the job that belongs to us. IML is being monitored 24 hours by cameras. It is clear that who has entered the refrigerator on who has extracted the samples and disappeared, therefore my order to Haxhi is to do her job as minister, who is tasked as minister before the Kosovo Assembly, he has declared.

Vetevendosje Movement activist Astrit Dehari was found dead in Prizren's prison cell in November 2016, where he was being detained under suspicion of having carried out an attack on the Kosovo Assembly building along with several other activists.

Since then, an unresolved case remains.
