Hill: Territorial Exchange Not in U.S.

Ambassador to the United States of America to Serbia Christopher Hill has spoken of the idea of exchanging territories between Kosovo and Serbia, while making it clear that this issue is not on the US agenda. I don't believe and know for sure that the exchange of territories is not in the agenda of the States. [...]

I don't believe and know for sure that the exchange of territories is not in the United States agenda. I know this has been a topic of centuries past, not only in Europe, but also in other countries. But territorial exchanges can be fatal”, he stressed.

The American diplomat underlined that no one in Washington, Brussels and the Western Balkans region, except a few people who can believe the exchange of territories would be done peacefully.

The thing we need to worry about is that this region of Serbia [the Presevo Valley], and other regions in Kosovo [the northern part of Kosovo]... we believe that people can move freely and not be blocked into a certain” location, the Ambassador Hill added.

The American diplomat also commented on the regional initiative “Open Bankan”, hoping that as many Western Balkan states join this initiative, which resulted from the sluggishness of the Berlin Process.

I have no doubt that the Open Balkans are very relevant for Presevo. I would like as many Balkan states join the Open Balkans. We are witnessing a historic report between Albania and Serbia, thanks to the Open Balkans”, Hill stressed.

Ambassador Hill during Monday and Tuesday stood for a visit to the Presevo Valley, where he met with political representatives of Albanians in this part of Serbia, Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanoc CHA, and promised he would try to address Albanian problems and demands.
