“I have had the opportunity in recent days to speak with the leaders of PDK and LDK, as well as AAK, as well as the president and prime minister, in my efforts to do everything in the name of the United States possible to support a successful result in Ohrid. I have forwarded opposition parties to Kosovo for many years, under various circumstances, and would say that in the end, parties that are currently in opposition, when there have been differences or concerns, eventually have put the national interest of the Republic of Kosovo ahead of domestic political issues and I would expect that even in this case they would do the same”, Hovenier said at ATV.
He said it is important to carefully analyze what this agreement meant if it does not result in success, given such great support from the US, EU Germany, France, Britain, etc.
“The US and all Kosovo international partners, without exception, believe that this agreement will be constructive, positive and will bring real, practical, political, economic benefits, and have made many attempts to advance it in challenging ways. And it is rare to have this level of engagement and bias in support: The U.S., the EU, Germany, France, Italy, Britain... so I want to mention this, since I think it's important that it carefully analyze what this agreement meant if it doesn't result in success”, said Houvenier.
