De Jong was invited by Ronald Koeman for the matches against France and Gibraltar, but he will not now join “Tulips”.
Koeman confirmed that the midfielder has suffered an injury from “El Classic” that will prevent him from being ready for the match in question.
According to the Dutch medium, “De Telegraaf”, the 25-year-old will be missing for two weeks.
This means that De Jong will also miss Barcelona in the match against Elches, as well as potentially against Real Madrid, in the semifinal match of the King's Cup.
