Buleshkaj: Lack of property, 30% salary fine of up to 500 euros

“This year has had innovation compared to the past years where with the new law on property statements by public officials are obliged to present more details in their statements, while there has been a need to have an electronic app for property statements, which thanks to donors is [...]
The director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Yll Buleskaj, in RTK, said that the activity of this agency has been evidently more successful in the region, until he added that out of 4800 public officials our expectations are that about 100 can be delayed in the timely wealth declaration, because about 500 officials remain. Either they haven't completely completed the declaration of government officials or haven't started yet.
Our expectation is to become 100 percent of the wealth declaration, but compared to the previous year, where about 60 officials who have been delayed in the wealth declaration are now expected to do so over 99% in time.
Buleskaj has further clarified that with the new property statement law, which was voted in the past year and entered into force in February of this year, under the property declaration, 5,000 other officials were included, but that according to him, the legal deadlines for property statements for these officials are a little later, probably from April 10th to May, while, as he announced, the only ones who can make the declaration of wealth later, in the coming year are the doctors of the second-rate public sector of public and public professors.
As with the establishment of the Bureau for Confisciency of Unjustified Property, in connection with “The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption”, Buleskaj stated that “Law for the Bureau” is in the Constitutional Court, and that from what we have accepted as law, voted in the Kosovo Parliament, which is not yet in power, the agency is expected to have a role in the work of this agency, first on the supervisory commission, in the form of the board, where it is also the Agency for Prevention to fully carry out all the administrative role of the institution and then make it available to its claim.
Buleskaj further announced co-operation with other state institutions, separately in the sphere of statistical data, databases, business data, etc.
For failing to file property in the previous period, Buleskaj indicated that the fine is 30% of the salary of up to 500 euros, until he added that today is the last day of property statements and there are no additional deadlines, while recently it is an acceleration of court treatment for such cases.
