So it has been made known by a communique from the company “Vita” who have indicated that they are blocking with non-tariff barriers to export of products to Bosnian territory, ignoring regional Free Trade Agreements.
The Vita company as leader and founder of the post-war milk industry in Kosovo is being blocked with non-tarifort barriers to export products on Bosnia and Herzegovina territory by not respecting regional free trade agreements and causing direct economic damage to our country. ”, said in communiqué.
The company has expressed concern with bureaucratic procedures that have been named discriminatory for blocking exports.
These Bosnia and Herzegovina actions are contrary to CEFTA's trade principles, where Bosnia has signed and contrary to the free flow of people and goods as a spirit of regional co-operation.
“Vita” has made attempts to communicate with Bosnian institutions so that Kosovo products are treated the same way the import of Bosnian products in Kosovo are treated, but say they are ignored.
“We have made continued efforts with the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to have the same treatment as they have produced from Bosnia in our country, such as MIGI milk, Milko, Megle and many other food products, but so far we have only been ignored and the blockade continues.”, says the communique.
Company “VITA” has appealed to Kosovo's relevant institutions to take measures in order to establish equality in the manner of tackling trade between the two states.
The local producers are making extremely big efforts to secure markets and raise exports, such blockades from countries in the region are damaging our country both in tax revenues and in providing a well-being for our citizens. We hope that our institutions will take measures as soon as the principles of equal treatment are applied in the Free Trade”, the communique says.
According to trade balance data between the two countries, Kosovo imports approximately 66m euros from Bosnia, while Bosnia only 11m euros from Kosovo.
