Local and international authorities expect that at the Ohrid meeting, held on March 18th between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, a deal will be reached on the plan to implement the European proposal. Even Western diplomats who are involved in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue hope to achieve progress at the March 18th meeting in Ohrid, North Macedonia, before European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell reports to the European Council on the flow of dialogue.
“Do not miss bus”
German Ambassador to Pristina Jörn Rohde gave full support to dialogue mediator Miroslav Lajcak, in reaching an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, calling on the parties not to miss the chance. The Agreement can be reached. Kosovo will benefit greatly. Kosovo needs to implement its obligations and offer the Association of Communities with the Serbian Majority immediately. Even European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo Violet Von Cromon hopes for an agreement between Kurti and Vuciqi at the Ohrid meeting, held on 18 March under the mediation of European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell. Von Croamon, who distributed the German ambassador's writing to Pristina on Twitter, said the “achieving an agreement would be a major step towards European integration for both countries. “I really hope we'll see both signatures on the deal at the end of the week in Ohrid. It would be a major step towards European integration for both countries,” wrote Violet Von Croamon.
Kurt ready for signing agreement
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti reaffirmed once again that he was willing to sign the agreement to normalise relations with Serbia on 27 February at the Brussels meeting. According to him, the basic agreement on normalisation proposed by the EU, or as the German franc plan “has an advance towards mutual recognition between the two states”. The prime minister made those comments, in a video message to a Mannheim University Forum in Germany, where he said he hoped Vuciki's refusal to sign in Brussels is no sign that he disagrees with the content of the agreement.
“We believe the basic agreement between Kosovo and Serbia contains a progress towards mutual recognition between the two states. We believe that full normalisation of relations requires a mutual recognition at the heart of the agreement, as well as respect for minority rights in both states. Security and peace in the region and Europe are necessary. We are willing to make progress even despite major challenges”, Prime Minister Kurti said.

Before going to Belgrade, EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak was in Pristina, where he said his “expectations have been fulfilled at meetings he had in with two Kosovo institutions leaders President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti. “To become legally binding document we must agree on how to implement. We need to know what the steps, rhythm and deadlines are, on the contrary it will only be political and non-formal deals”, Miroslav Lajcak said, during the visit to Pristina. He said the EU is focused on what he called the second step, which has to do with finalising the implementation plan, since it is completed, will be passed on to the next step, which is formalisation.
