ZRE eases conditions for citizens who want to produce renewable energy

The Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) has held a public meeting with energy sector institutions, developers, banks, business associations, economic offices and international development organisations to review the draft Rule for Renewable Energy Resources (Rule for Prosumers). Drift Rule for Renewable Energy Resources Propossors [...]
The rule for renewable energy sources (BRE) is designed to promote renewable energy development and boost supply security in Kosovo. This rule aims to ensure affordable electricity prices, while also providing environmental, social and health benefits as well as facilitate business growth and employment opportunities.
With a draft rule for prosumators, sir. The RRE recognises the important role of developers and renewable energy consumers in the transition of energy by embracing new, sustainable technologies that promote defuelisation and reduce energy costs through active participation in the renewable energy market.
Drift Rule for Prosumers provides advanced level regulation in a comprehensive and integrated way for major issues involving self-consumption. Once provides an adequate and sufficient regulatory framework to advance the growing demand in this important and growing part of the renewable sector in Kosovo.
The rule project defines clear criteria, technical conditions and the rights and obligations of self-generative consumers. Consumers now have a legal basis designed to generate their energy and can benefit from both the cost savings from self-production and the injection of excess energy produced but not used by them.
The new rules for the producers allow all categories of consumers to take active part in the energy sector by producing themselves (alert energy). Helping to promote increased the number of consumers, the new rule will indirectly help reduce the overall demand for electricity across Kosovo, reducing the need for higher levels of expensive energy imports,” explained Ymer Fejzullahu, chairman of the ZRE Board.
The increase in the number of consumers means an increase in the share of renewable energy production, thus supporting the defuelisation process. Furthermore, the draft Rule for Prosumators related to the Law pending for Renewable Energy Resources (BIL) will further consolidate Kosovo's energy legislation and provide more clarity and confidence for investors and businesses that realise self-generation with renewable resources. /Periscopi/
