Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that he expects talks on Ukraine's membership in the European Union to begin at the end of this year.
The “Synim is to start negotiations this year and that is not just the goal, but the big target”, Zelensky said in Kiev, at a joint conference with European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel.
“Ukrainian and the EU, we are a family. Ukraine's future is within the EU”, he stressed, not to mention deadlines, Euronews writes.
Von der Leyen said Zelensky's determination to move the country forward is impressive.
She has acknowledged that Ukraine has made some reforms, despite the war, but has added that the EU membership process does not have “ifate timeline”.
