More than 76 hours after Monday's devastating earthquake hit southern Turkey, three men emerged alive and undamaged from ruins in the town of Gaziantep after relatives and neighbours joined the operation to escape.
Mithat Tabur and his sons Ersin, 30, and Mustafa, 26, were rescued from the ruins of an eight-story building on the outskirts of the town of Ibrahimli after research teams discovered it in what had remained of their living room, CNN writes.
Thabur's wife, Ayer, was placed in the kitchen with no signs of life.
Rescue teams are now trying to extract her body from beneath the ruins.
More than 100 people lived in their building, and about a quarter of the inhabitants came out alive.
Omer Kokok, a relative of the survivors, told CNN early Wednesday that his cousins were able to contact rescue teams through calls giving them life signs.
“Ersin was the one who called for help”, Omer told CNN.
Omer volunteered to dig, helping rescue workers in their hard work of sifting ruins.
Otherwise, the number of victims from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has reached over 21,000.
