The trip has been scheduled for several months, but the decision was made Friday.
The White House is said to have announced the Russians' trip hours before leaving for Kiev on Sunday morning.
Beden has spent more than five hours in the Ukrainian capital consulting Ukrainian President Volodyy Zelensky for the next steps, as Russia's war in Ukraine fills for a few days.
The American president has called the war in Ukraine “brutal and unfair”.
“A year later, Kiev stands”, Biden said after meeting Zelensky at the Mariynskiy Palace.
“Ukrainian remains. Democracy stands. Americans are with you and the world is with you”, said Beden in the hall filled with American and Ukrainian flags.
He has made it known that the US will allocate military aid worth $500m to Ukraine, including rockets, radars for surveillance and other weapons.
So far, the US has allocated more than $50 billion in aid to Ukraine from the start of the war.
Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war “special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes. / REL/
