WFP alarms lack of aid in northwest Syria

The World Food Programme (WFP) calls for more access to Syrian territories affected by the earthquake to recharge the supplies and aid that have been emptied, where the organisation's executive director called the situation northwest of Syria <x1-catastrophics beyond disaster”. “The funds we have are empty, especially ready rations and [...]
The “The funds we have are empty, especially ready rations, and they must be refueled quickly. To do that, we need access”, says David Beasley, director of the WFP, CNN reports, forwards Klankosova.tv.
Earlier, aid has been brought to the northwest of Syria through Turkey from the passage to Bab al-Hawa, as the only entry point by the UN Security Council. Since the proposed resolution for more opening of the border between Turkey and Syria has taken veto from Russia and China.
The other route was through <x0-2-4-2-2-2-2-2-8-1> that came aid from Syrian government territory in the northwest of the rebels.
“A checkpoint authorised by the Security Council has been re-opened, but damaged roads and slow customs controls are hampering much movement. We must increase crossing operations within Syria. This is not the time to politicise aid”, Beasley said.
The WFP aims to bring food ready for nearly 100,000 people in northwest Syria and have regular ports for 1.4 million distribution along with partners.
However, the organization still needs 700 million dollars to feed some 6 million people in Syria.
