Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, today declared that until Russian President Vladimir Putin shows no indication that he wants peace and that he must understand” that he cannot win the war in Ukraine.
He said they must continue to offer Ukraine weapons needed to regain territory.
Nearly a year since his brutal invasion, President Putin shows no sign that he is preparing for peace. Rather, it is starting new offensives and is targeting civilians, cities and critical infrastructure. Putin must understand that he cannot win, and for this, we must continue to offer Ukraine quickly the weapons and ammunition he needs to regain territory and dominate as a sovereign nation in Europe.”, Stoltenberg said at a joint press conference with Polish President Andrze Duda in Brussels.
Stoltenberg said NATO is taking further steps to strengthen the alliance's defence.
“We are strengthening our presence and readiness from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea, including Poland.”, he underlined.
Stoltenberg said that NATO will protect every inch of Poland and the entire ally territory.
Stoltenberg said that during his meeting with the Polish president, they also discussed Belarus's role in Putin's war in Ukraine.
He said Belarus is deepening its political and military integration with Russia. We call on Belarus to end its co-operation in war. ”, Stoltenberg said, writes CNN.
While Polish President Andreze Duda said Poland will continue to expand its military capabilities and the 2023 defence budget will increase by more than 4% of GDP.
