On the day Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti meets in Brussels with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, Spanish Ambassador to Belgrade Raul Bartholomew, has continued to deny the reality created on February 17th 2008, Kosovo's independence.
He has said Spain continues to respect the so-called “territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia”, according to him, “in accordance with international law”, despite the International Court of Justice (GJND) has given its word that Kosovo's independence is in full compliance with international law.
Unless Spain recognises Kosovo as a state, it has promised Serbia that it will defend its interests through international organisations, meaning votes against Kosovo.
The Spanish ambassador has also said Spain's upcoming presidency with the European Union will be of great importance to Serbia's European integration process, Tanjug has reported.
Spain is one of five European Union countries (BE), which has not yet recognised Kosovo.
