Former Kosovo Liberation Army member Peter Shala, who is accused of running an improvised prison when people were allegedly mistreated and one killed at the start of his trial at The Hague, said the charges against him were fabricated.
Prosecutors have filed four counts of war crimes against Shala, including charges of torture and murder. They have argued that Shala has been part of a criminal group that has arrested and mistreated at least 18 people, who considered Serbian spies or collaborators.
