According to the Structure Enterprises Survey, in 2021, profits in the economy were $28 billion, or about 2.2 billion. These profits were generated by an annual circulation (income from the sale of goods and services) of 2.78 trillion dollars, or about 23 billion euros.
The profit rate in the economy was 9.3%, meaning that for $100, businesses earned an average of 9.3 dollars in profits.
The profit rates have increased significantly compared to the previous year, when all enterprises suffered the consequences of restrictions from pandemic.
Separated according to sectors, returns rates have big differences.
Selling an apartment has a quick and high profit. The most profitable sector in the economy in 2021 was the activity of “real estate assets”, with a record rate of 31.9%, up from 28.8% the previous year. This activity generated 14.8 billion dollars in revenue to 2021m euros) and profits of 37m euros.
The second most profitable business in the country is that of “Information Services”, with a return rate of 25.1%.
“Professional services” are the other sector that generates high profits, even because it's a mental job, which doesn't have much physical spending. The profit rate at 2021 was 24.7%.
<x0) This sector has scored and the highest profit rate in comparison to 2019, by 10 percentage points, by being more acquired by pandemic, because of high interest in conducting analysis, or forcing tax when travelling abroad.
“ %s of accommodation”, which mainly includes hotels, has a return of 16.5%, while “Food service”, or bar and restaurant activity -- one of the favourites in the country -- has an official return of 13.6%.
“Construction” states an average profit rate of 11.3%.
According to INSTAT, out of 30 detailed economic activities, only five of them have a higher profit rate than 20%, out of which only real estate has over 30%.
Another 11 sectors earn between 10-20% annually.
14 sectors, or 46% of total economic activities in the country, have lower rates than 10% (see the graph: The profit rates according to economic activities, 2021).
The clothing and leather industry, one of the leading employers in the country, which has a competitive advantage the low cost of the labour force had a rate of 8.5-8.9%.
Although the number of media, especially those televisions, is growing, INSTAT data shows that “The objectives of publishing and production of programmes” have a low profit rate of 7.2%, with almost halved compared to previous years.
With technological developments enabling many to plan their own travel plans, travel agencies enjoy a minimum return rate of 6.6% a year, while in 2020, when the country was in the pandemic, they resulted in losses.
“Telecommunication and broadcasts of programmes” had a minimum rate of 0.3%, mainly related to the activity of telecommunications companies since the mid-20000s, when high profits were already in minimal, or lost. /Monitor. al
