Beyond the rhetoric as a statesman, outside the Mariinsky Palace, the two leaders shared a brief moment of conversation during Joe Biden's visit today, writes Sky News, past Periscope.

Ukraine's first lady, Olena Zelenska, asked her what Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, is like, which Biden replied: “She's doing well”.

After the brief conversation, Biden found that it was his eighth visit to Kiev, saying that each time it was more significant.

He added that the purpose of his visit was to convey Zelenski that the US is “here to stay”

He was later escorted into the palace, where he met with other Ukrainian officials, including Prime Minister Danys Schmyhal.

In preparation for his arrival, several roads to the capital were closed and a cord was established.

At least two Air Force supervisors of the United States were spotted, also flying near the Poland-Ukraine border.

Throughout his short trip, he also went for a walk around St Michael's Golden Cathedral.

Air strike sirens were heard throughout the city as Biden and Zelensky left the church.

The two then passed by and together placed a crown on the Wall of Memory for the fallen heroes of war while playing a military greeting, and the two presidents gazed silently for a few moments.
