Secretary NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has said Russia's decision to suspend participation in the bilateral nuclear arms control agreement indicates that the world is becoming the most dangerous country.

Stoltenberg has called on Moscow to reconsider the verdict once more, writes Guadia, translation Periscopi.

Stoltenberg has spoken at a conference in NATO offices in Brussels after Russian President Vladimir Putin has blamed the West for the war in Ukraine, as well as has suggested his plan to withdraw from the START Agreement.

“More nuclear weapons and less control over them make the world a much more dangerous country”, Stoltenberg said while staying at the conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.

Responding to Vladimir Putin, about allegations that the West was making efforts to destroy Russia, Stoltenberg said Moscow started aggression in Ukraine a year ago.

It's President Putin who started this war. And as he made it clear today, he is preparing for more fighting. Putin must not win. This would be very dangerous for our safety and the whole world”, Stoltenberg said.

I want Russia's decision to suspend participation in the START” programme, Stoltenberg said,

Meanwhile in Athens, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said Russia's step is irresponsible” and that the United States of America will look carefully at Moscow's future actions.

We remember that the agreement Putin announced today that Moscow would give up, was signed between Moscow and Washington in 2010, and sets the limit to the number of nuclear weapons for the two countries that are nuclear superpowers and it would scan in 2026. /Periscope
